The thing I missed the most when I was alone -- a glass of wine on the porch, quiet conversation. I've learned to do without the after dinner cigarette. Maybe the wine could be a cup of coffee or a glass of tea. But I need the companianship. . . After thinking about it, maybe any two out of three would suffice.
Does that need a question mark at the end of your first sentence? Otherwise , we are still waiting for you to tell us what you missed most. I know it becomes obvious later in the piece, but the beginning as it stands feels incomplete. I like the way you leave us pondering...
ReplyDeleteJinksy, thank you for the input. I added a dash instead of a period. Writing in sentence fragments is a bad habit. It's the way I think inside my head.
ReplyDeleteA lovely wistful piece, company probably is the number one choice for me, too.
ReplyDeleteA thoughtful post. Enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this quiet and thoughtful piece. I agree, I could leave the cigarette, but you can't beat good company and a glass of red wine :)
ReplyDeletePlanet Lonely isn't a place anyone should have to visit.
ReplyDeleteA melancholy piece. Many can relate. I can, : )
ReplyDeletelonging expressed beautifully
ReplyDeleteA sad and very poignant write.
ReplyDeleteI'll have the companionship please ....
ReplyDeletePoignantly fresh... on an issue all too often experienced by many.
ReplyDeleteI can surely relate to this - nicely written.
ReplyDeleteCompanionship for me too.

Being alone has it's own benefits but companionship outweighs them all. Nice writing. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's an art to be alone, but not lonely...
ReplyDeleteSolid, relatable snippet. Minor nit: might want to change "companianship" to "companionship".
